Carpet Fibres:
Wool
Naturally resilient, wool will recover quickly from foot traffic and furniture. It is warm, soft and easy to clean. Wool is an environmentally friendly option.Nylon
Nylon is extremely hard-wearing and easy to clean.
It blends well with other fibres to improve overall wear performance.Polypropylene
Polypropylene is highly stain resistant and hard wearing.
It is easy to clean and very colour fast.Polyester
Polyester is often used in saxony style carpets.
It has a lustrous appearance and good stain resistance.
Carpet weave:
Twist
One of the most popular carpet types in the UK.
Tightly twisted to give a more defined, textured surface.
A hard wearing style, less likely to show footprints and cleaner marks.Loop pile
Level loop is seen in popular “Berber” style, often in neutral shades.
Multi-level loop creates a textured effect.
Can be vulnerable to pets getting claws into the loops of the pile.Saxony
Straight cut longer pile for a sumptuous feel.Shaggy Style
Long pile to create a deep, luxurious feel.Velvet Pile
Dense, low pile with a smooth, luxurious finish.
More likely to show footprints and vacuum cleaner marks.Cut and Loop Pile
