Nigel Mace Interiors About Our Company

The Nigel Mace Interiors story so far...

Nigel MaceNigel Mace started his career in carpets retail in 1985 working for an independent local retailer in Plymouth Citycentre for 5 years. He started as trainee salesman working up to salesman / estimator & planner.

After working for an independent firm he decide he would like the experience to work for larger organisation. Nigel joined the Plymouth & South Devon Co-operative Society in 1990 running the carpet department of Homemaker store at Plympton for 4 years. With his exprience of sales & estimating in place, he decided to embark in his own local business.

A home interiors selection service ran from an office / warehouse in stonehouse. In August 1994 Nigel Mace Interiors was started, with encouragement from Nigel’s late uncle who had also been in business in Plymouth for over 20 years. He started small from selling, estimating from his van through to the installing the products himself.

After a year of successful trading Nigel sought the services of another Quality sub-contractor to do the installations, so he could concentrate on sales & estimating side. Within this time he had securing his first local housing contract. After 4 years of successful trading decided to open his own retail outlet in his local area of Plympton.

The Nigel Mace Store

In May 1999 Nigel Mace Interiors opened their doors to the public. The business grew at a steady pace, to this current day. Nigel employs 2 Full time & 2 part staff to assist him in the day to day activities of business. He now is a member of Greendale carpets & flooring buying in which he joined in September 2000. By coming together in this way as a member we enjoy a purchasing power just as great or greater than that of the big "out of town" multiples, offering exclusive range quality carpets & flooring at the most competitive prices.

In November 2006, Nigel's wife Caroline became a partner in the family business. She has a wealth of knowledge in the home interiors trade with over 18 years experience working for Habitat & Homemaker (Plymouth & South Devon Co-op) for most of this time and our company at present. Caroline is also at present studying a diploma in interior design - this takes 2 years to complete, she hopefully will be launching this in early 2008 when she can then offer the full interior design service.

Greendale carpets & flooring buying group

We have been a member of Greendale carpets & flooring buying group since 1999, and firmly believe this has made our company the most competitive in the South West. Being a Carpet Foundation registered specialist we work hard to give our customers the ultimate peace of mind shopping experience.

The Carpet Foundation has achieved stage one approval with The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) which is the highest consumer champion in the land. through its Consumer Codes Approval Scheme (CCAS), the OFT is keen to promote an improvement in selling practices within a sector so protecting the consumer.

It has defined key criteria for consumer codes and this comprises pre-contractual information, deposit protection, impartial advice to consumers, complaints and conciliation, independent arbitration and non-compliance monitoring. OFT approval for a code is a 2 stage process – Stage One agree the words and then, when the code sponsor has shown that the actual selling practices do deliver the promise, stage two approval is given and use of the OFT approved code logo is allowed, and will hopefully achieve stage two approval by the end 2006.
